New tenant

The following explains step by step the creation and basic configuration of a new tenant in SyCes2. Some steps may vary depending on the circumstances.

Step 1: Create a new tenant

A user with user level root or admin can create a new tenant from the tenant list of the website.

This step requires information about the name, domain and license type of the new tenant. If the creating user is of user level root, information about which provider to use is also required.

When a new tenant is created, a default template (anonymous sign-up) and a default rate (free and unlimited) are created for this tenant. This enables a streamlined user experience and allows setting up a new tenant in a minimal number of steps.

Step 2: Create a new location

A new location can be set up in a tenant's location list by a user with root, admin or tenant admin user levels.

To set up a functioning location for a tenant, information about the name, the gateway IP (for bintec routers) and a valid template and rate are required. Initially the default rate and template can be selected unless otherwise requested. The gateway IP is required for the router's login functionality and has the format 192.168.0.1.

The router itself also needs to be configured, see new hotspot (Basics).

Step 3: Create a new license

Depeding on the tenant's license type, a new location license or user license needs to be set up. This can be done in the tenant's license list.

To create a license, the license key must be available. This is a unique string containing information about the license type, license duration and number of users for user licenses. Additionally, a location license require the selection of an existing location to which it will be assigned.

Note that at least one location license of a tenant should be a base license to unlock the login functionality.

Location licenses can also be entered via the location page. If the location already has an active license, the start date of the new license will be set after the end date of the current license.

A delayed license start can optionally be entered for user licenses.

Step 4: Create a new user for the tenant

Next, a new admin user must be created for the tenant (user level: tenant admin). This user can edit configurations related to its tenant, including creating tenant users, rates, templates and uploads.

This tenant admin user is the new tenant's contact person.

For creation, information about the username and password is required.

Once created, the user credentials are e-mailed to the address entered in the e-mail field, granting the user access to the website.
